WorldStrides Heritage Festival of Gold
Members of the Granite City High School Band made their mark in national competition by having eleven students selected to perform in the WorldStrides Heritage Festival of Gold Honor Band!
Outstanding students from the top bands in the country participated in national auditions held in December. Students receiving high scores at these auditions were invited to perform with the WorldStrides Heritage Festival of Gold Honor Band held in the renowned Orchestra Hall at the Chicago Symphony Center on March 31st. It is an extreme honor to be selected to perform at this level of competition, and we are very proud of them!

Members of the Granite City High School Band made their mark in national competition this week by competing in the WorldStrides Heritage Festival of Gold National Band Competition held in Chicago Symphony Center’s Orchestra Hall. The GCHS Band took Second Place in competition with bands from San Francisco, California, to West Palm Beach, Florida, to Ontario, Canada and many more throughout the country. The band also had the second highest number of students selected for the WorldStrides Heritage Festival of Gold Honor Band by having eleven students selected to perform!

IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest
The GCHS Band competed in the IHSA State Solo & Ensemble Music Competition on March 8th at Alton High School. They came away with an impressive 44 first place ratings, 14 second place ratings, 3 third place ratings, and 1 “Best of the Day” Award.
